The Relationship between Planter Arch and Motor Ability in Children Aged 0 to 12according to the 5 categories of the foot arch. Datawere analyzed using the SPSS version. 19.0J forWindows(SPSS Inc., Tokyo, Japan), and means±SDwere presented with the significance set at p < 0.05.Ⅲ．Results1．Physical characteristicsTable 1 showed the height, weight, and footlength increase with growth. The height, weight,and foot length of boys increased from the height of72.3±3.2cm, the weight of 9.3±1.0kg and the footlength of 10.9±0.9cm of boys aged 0.5, to145.5±6.4cm, 38.6±7.7kg and 22.7±1.4cm ofboys aged 12, respectively. As for girls, the height,weight and foot length ranged from 68.4±3.7cm,7.9±0.9kg and 10.1±1.2cm of girls aged 0.5, to147.4±6.1cm, 39.4±6.6kg and 22.4±0.8cm ofgirls aged 12, respectively.2．Plantar archTable 2 showed plantar arch ratios in boys andgirls as they grow at half year intervals up to age 6,and at one year intervals after age 6. Flat feet ratioaccounted for 100 % of boys and girls at age 0.5,and then rapidly decreased to age 4.0. The normalarchfeet ratio increased from age 0.5 to 6.0 in boysand girls, then comprised 72.4% of the boys and72.6 % of the girls at age 7. The normal-arch feetwere formed earlier in girls than in boys from theage of 0.5 to 8. BL feet were formed earlier than BRat the age of 0.5 - 2.5 in boys and girls.
